Description: Food, its preparation and its tastiness, is a favorite subject of the many fine cooks who live in the State of Maine, visit in the state or, from miles away, remember with nostalgia the recipes handed down in their own families for generations. When two Maine women, noted for their knowledge of Down East cooking, get together to compile a book of favorite recipes, everyone knows this is that special kind of cookbook which deserves a place of honor in any kitchen.

This 1967 vintage cookbook All-Maine Cooking was compiled from favorite recipes sent to Mrs. Ruth Wiggin and Mrs. Loana Shibles of Rockland by people as close as their neighbors and as far away as London, England. Maine's two Senators, Margaret Chase Smith and Edmund S. Muskie, are represented by recipes they particularly like.

Many of the recipes in this book are those which have been used through generations of Maine families and never before made public. All are tested and approved Maine recipes. Many come from Colonial days and days when Maine was but a wilderness in the process of being settled by hardy pioneers. Altogether 326 fine cooks are represented by 523 recipes in this book.
