Description: The Utah Dining Car has been organized around a railroad theme because of the significance of the meeting of the Union Pacific and the Central Pacific railroads near Ogden in 1869. 

The first transcontinental travelers to venture through Ogden did not enjoy the luxury of dining cars. Until well into the 1880's, the railroads fed their passengers at dining stations along the way. Thirty minutes were allowed for ordering and bolting food, (usually thin, shoe-leather steak and corn cake for all meals) before continuing on the journey. One of the few recommended dining spots was kept by a man in Evanston, Wyoming, He served fresh mountain trout. This was greatly appreciated then, and remains a great favorite to this day.
