Description: Welcome to Mom's Diner. For over 20 years my Diner has been Ziggy's favorite eatery. Here, you're guaranteed mouth-watering, lip-smacking, belly-warming food served up most often with a little motherly advice and a lot of napkins.
One day, my friend Ziggy convinced me that the time had come to reveal my secrets and share some of my personal recipes with you, so here are about 160 of them, with my blessings. You'll see some nostalgic dishes mixed in with my newest inventions. From all around America to distant shores of faraway places, there's surely something to please everyone; whether it's a Sunday morning breakfast on the back porch or a special dinner for when out of town company comes. No special equipment is needed, although I often use my favorite big, black skillet; well-seasoned wooden spoons; a good set of knives (always sharpened, of course); and I can't seem to live without that new-fangled food processor.
Now listen up, because when it comes to eating, my philosophy consists of two very important beliefs:First, eat plenty of fresh fruits, crisp vegetables and wholesome grains, and do something physical every day, like taking a nice, brisk walk with someone that has interesting things to say. It's good for the body.
Secondly, every now and then have a nice, big helping of comfort food like Twelve Oaks Southern Fried Chicken with Cream Gravy, Twice-Baked Sweet Potatoes with Marshmallows and a warm slice of Apple Shoofly Pie; or a plate of Tom's Good Old Pot Roast with Homemade Noodles and a thick slice of stick-to- your-fork Chocolate Malt Devil's Food Cake washed down with a cup of steaming coffee with real cream. It's good for the soul.
