Additional Details

Description: A collection of pictures, stories and recipes to give you a taste of Terrace Hill. Elegant and stately as it is, Terrace Hill in its 110-year history has never been anything but a home. In many ways, the hub of a home is the kitchen and its activities.

In the very early days, the B. F. Allens christened Terrace Hill with a sparkling gala which set a sumptuous precedent for hospitality and refreshments. Later, Terrace Hill was the home of the Frederick M. Hubbell family for nearly ninety years. Four generations marked scores of parties, family dinners and special dining occasions.

In 1972 Terrace Hill became the property of the state of Iowa and the home of the Governor. In the five terms during which the author's husband, Robert D. Ray was been Governor of Iowa, he and his wife had many unforgettable dining experiences. This book shares some of those recipes with you as well as recipes collected by their friends and acquaintances.
