You don't need a lot of specialized equipment -- the only essential is a sushi rolling mat, which is inexpensive and widely available from good kitchen stores and even some supermarkets. However, you might also wish to invest in a sushi press, a rice spatula, and, perhaps a bamboo bowl for mixing the rice in -- after all, authenticity is part of the fun!
