Description: What happens to a child when she fudges on her mother at the age of seven? I was cooking fudge . . . not just ordinary fudge, but Peanut Butter Fudge. While mom was tending to the household errands, I was cooking and stirring a "Pot" of fudge.

Moving ahead a few years, the "Pot" contained flavored candy syrups for coating popped popcorn, which was shared with family and friends. This idea culminated into Culpeppers Popcorn and Candy Inc., a California company . . . the first to manufacture sixty flavors of gourmet popcorn. For many years this product was marketed in our retail locations throughout the United States, as far east to Sony Plaza in Japan and to the far west in Europe at Harold's department store in London, England. Today that "Pot" may contain a delicate filling for French tarts, a delicious pasta sauce or the brine for my ever so popular "Bread & Butter Pickles".

My love for cooking began at an early age. Cooking with mom was always a fun adventure. I might look up and see her with a ball of bread dough stuck to her nose or a pastry dough mustache! It seemed as though mom considered cooking for a husband and seven children a privilege rather than a tiresome chore. I do not remember sitting down to a meal at mom's table that it did not end with a luscious dessert. I have carried out this tradition in my home and in our Restaurant, Bakery and Cannery.

I want to especially mention my husband Ron. During our 26 years of marriage he has always encouraged me, helped me accomplish my dreams. At Culpepper's Popcorn, he managed the main popcorn factory with 100 employees. He did not just manufacture pounds of popcorn, but tons of finished product. Today he manages our 80-acre farm in Arkansas with 1500 apple trees, 350 peach trees, berries, grapes and vegetables which are utilized in our Restaurant, Bakery and Cannery. His love for farming started as a child in Kansas. The old saying is so true, "You can take the boy off the farm, but you can't take the farm from the boy", certainly applies to Ron.

I know you will enjoy the many recipes ...
