Description: If you are looking for a cookbook filled with gorgeous pictures of food and their accompanying recipes, I am concerned that you are apt to be disappointed. It's not that we haven't worked hard to present a pleasing milieu of delectable Royer finds for you. We have. However, the recipes have only flavored the unique opportunities that have come to us through the years at the Cafe. With this cookbook, we are hoping to give you a taste of what life in the country has meant for us.

Food has been an important ingredient, to be sure, but it is only a part of what has comprised our life in Round Top. It is true, of course, that without food one can suffer from malnutrition and even death. The move to the country revealed to us something that we took for granted in the city -- without relationships one can suffer from a relational malnutrition. The quiet of the country disrupted our comfort zone. In the city, there was a level of busyness and distraction that we thought at the time signified a 'rich life'. The silence of the country made us all, at one level or another, examine what is important in life.
