Description: Vienna, once the capital of an empire which stretched from Russia in the east to Naples in the south, is renowned for good living, and especially for its exquisite cakes and pastries. Nowhere in Europe is the art of the patissier more nobly demonstrated than in its cafes and coffee houses, where the ritual drinking of coffee has become an essential part of Austrian society.
