Description: It all began in Coney Island when Nathan Handwerker was working at Feltman's where the frankfurter made its original debut. Jimmy Durante and Eddie Cantor, singing waiters at the famous restaurant, suggested that what this country needed was a good nickel hot dog ... and that inspired Nathan Handwerker to risk all his savings to open his own little stand. The business prospered; the original stand at Surf and Stillwell Avenues where the nickel hot dog was born is open twenty-four hours a day, summer and winter; there are now several branch restaurants, a catering business and an international mail-order service.

150 unusual, tempting and original frankfurter recipes -- America's favorite delicacy featured in appetizers, casseroles, soups, salads, barbecues ...

Plus a special section of recipes for children's meals.
