Description: Betsy Nozick, born and raised in Dallas, Texas, could hardly boil water when she got married. With the encouragement (and patience) of her husband, Robert, she soon found she could cook anything.
Her catering career began in Amarillo, when she and a friend agreed to host reception for 500. (Each thought the other was in charge of the food!) Within 24 hours, they were in business.
Betsy established Gourmet Gals & Guys catering service when she and her family moved to Austin. In the early years, all the cooking was done in her kitchen - and in the kitchens of her neighbors and friends. As the company grew, so did her skills in cooking and entertainment planning. She has been privileged to serve such dignitaries as presidents, senators, authors, even Prince Charles, and has been equally delighted to have served clients at hundreds of weddings, open houses, receptions, teas and impromptu parties.
After more than twenty years in the business, Betsy continues as owner of Gourmet Gals & Guys. Her real love is being a grandmother and surrounding herself with family.
Tricia Henry is originally from Wilmette, Illinois, a North Shore suburb of Chicago. Married for thirty-eight years to Mike Henry, the mother of four and grandmother of eight, she got her early culinary inspiration from her mother-in-law, a Swedish cook extraordinaire. Entertaining and cooking for family and friends has always been a high priority.
When the Henrys relocated to Austin, Texas, in 1976, Betsy Nozick was her neighbor. Tricia joined Betsy's young Gourmet Gals catering business, then operated from Betsy's home kitchen. The rest is history.
