Description: The American Club in the city of Kohler, Wisconsin, has always been known for its cuisine throughout its history. When constructed in 1918, the Club housed immigrants who came to work at Kohler Co., a leading manufacturer of plumbing products and generator sets. The red brick, Tudor-style building was a welcoming first home in the new world for these men. And, the reassuring smells of home-style cooking from its immense dining hall aided in the transition to a new life in Wisconsin.
In 1978, the Club had outlived its original purpose; however, still standing with pride and integrity, it was placed on the National Register of Historic Places. It was then that an ambitious plan was undertaken to transform the aging residence hall into an inn.
Today, acclaimed as a premier resort hotel of world class standing, The American Club is at the center of a small village that features nine restaurants--each with its own distinctive ambiance and cuisine.
This recipe book is reflective of the diversity and sensitive taste that has made The American Club a destination for those who celebrate the pleasures of fine food, recreation and gracious hospitality.
