Description: It is no secret that Marengo County has been known to throw some of the most lavish parties with culinary delights that tempt the eyes as well as the palette. From the beginning, when French exiles danced under the moonlight on the White Bluffs, to the present, when a bride and groom take their vows overlooking the White Bluffs at Bluff Hall, it is evident that Marengo knows how to entertain, how to cook and how to eat.

The Marengo County Historical Society has celebrated many occasions at each of our historic properties and has shared with guests and members homemade sweets and savories over the years, each dish lovingly prepared by volunteers of the Society. It was our goal to collect treasured recipes from Marengo County to share with everyone -- recipes you love to make, to eat, and to share! This cookbook is a taste of Marengo County and the many peoples who have come before and are here today!

Some recipes have special notes, some historical in nature, some just anecdotes we wanted to share. In addition, each category features a special site or event in Marengo County.
