Description: The people of the Islands have an old saying, "Lucky you live Hawaii," and my family and I are doubly fortunate -- and doubly grateful -- for we not only' 'live Hawaii'' but our charming 75-year-old plantation home is located on the beautiful Hamakua Coast of the Big Island which gives the state its name. From our hilltop we overlook the quaint old village of Honokaa and the shimmering waters of the fabled Alenuehaha channel, and in the distance we can see Maui's great Haleakala volcano.
We are blessed by abundant sun, rich soil and gentle rains, a combination which provides the perfect climate for growing the rarest and noblest of all nuts: the macadamia. The first macadamia tree in Hawaii was planted here and 98 years later it is still flourishing, and still bearing nuts! Honokaa was once a "sugar town," but it is now known as the Macadamia Nut Capital of the World, home of the Hawaiian Holiday Macadamia Nut Co. and "The Perfect Nut."
