Description: There is probably nothing that can bring people of disparate backgrounds together more quickly than good food and music. The regularly scheduled All-Nations dinners at International House provide a warm setting for members and their guests to eat and sing and dance and make friends with people from around the world.

What better way to break down barriers than a dinner of moussaka followed by Greek dancing; or a heaping dish of jolloff rice and a lecture on Ghana; or a Central Asian dinner followed by a demonstrated lecture on the folk music of Sikkim. These triumphant dinners gave birth to the idea of an international cookbook composed of recipes from the homes of the members. These are recipes for the food our members and their mothers prepared in their own kitchens -- truly home cooking.

The first edition of the cookbook, entitled Culinary Intrigue, was printed in 1967. A second, and considerably abbreviated version, was printed a few years later. This present Cookbook of the International House of Rhode Island contains all but a handful of the recipes from the first Culinary Intrigue, additional recipes that appeared in the second edition but not in the first, many new recipes from present members, and an expanded section of United States recipes.
