Additional Details

Description: Homer, Alaska has a history of being a town with ties close to the sea and with fishing. Because of these close ties and because Homer is one of the world's busiest Halibut sportsfishing ports, a large number of mariners operate out of the Homer area. Unfortunately, a substantial number of these mariners end up in distress each year. For this reason RESCUE 21, INC. was founded. It is a non-profit corporation formed with members belonging to the Homer Flotilla 02-01 of the Coast Guard Auxiliary, 17th District.

For ten years starting in 1979, RESCUE 21 sponsored the Homer Halibut Derby; which is now sponsored by the Homer Chamber of Commerce. Here in this cookbook, they compile recipes from the community, including local businesses and restaurants.
