Description: Historic Hackett House...Keeps Humming Along! Hackett House was built in 1888 as Tempe's first bakery. Today, she stands as "The Grand Old Lady of Hayden Square." She stands in vivid contrast to the modem, high-rise structures that now surround her and serves as a reminder of days gone by.
Hackett House is the busy headquarters of the Tempe Sister City organization. Volunteers operate a charming gift shop along with many other programs. There is the award-winning "Cuisines of the World" cooking school; the famous Hackett House Tea Parties; the Way Out West Oktoberfest; the children's multi-cultural program, "Passport to Understanding'' ... to name a few. Proceeds from this cookbook support all of these projects and much more. Volunteers are always needed and are warmly welcomed.
"For the Good Thymes" is a collection of recipes from Tempe's Sister City volunteers ... served at a variety of parties, family gatherings and other "good times." We hope you enjoy them. Each one comes as a gift to a new friend (that's you!)... someone's special memory ... and part of a heritage that belongs to us all. The goal of the Sister City program is "Bringing the World Together... One Friendship at a Time." The goal of this cookbook is to make new friends and to remind us... that "Good Thymes" are "Friendship Times"... and people who "break bread" together have a better chance to enjoy "Good Thymes" in a peaceful world.
