Description: The early settlers of the Ozark Mountains brought hand-me-down recipes for their native favorites, and perhaps a treasured cookbook, with them when they came to the Ozarks. Many recipes have been handed down from grandmother to mother, to daughter and shared with friends. 

In this cookbook, the author has brought together "old-timey" Ozark recipes, most of which were in use at the turn-of-the-century. Recipes are written like the handed-down "receipts" and the ones in the old books, in prose form. They include the colloquialisms indicative of that era in the Ozarks.
