Description: This collection is the third cookbook published by the Docent Council of The Gamble House. The first two cookbooks contained only luncheon recipes. This volume has additional categories as well. Many of these dishes have been served at The Gamble House and always there have been requests for our luncheon recipes.
The appetizer section came about when, a few years ago, Docents brought their favorites hors d'oeuvres to a Christmas party. The offerings were so interesting and different that they became the nucleus for that section. Also the Docent Hospitality Committee has, on occasion, been called upon to entertain at receptions, and their recipes are included.
The picnic section had its beginnings in the annual summer picnics on the lawn at The Gamble House. Again recipes were exchanged, and a picnic section seemed appropriate. Also many of the Docents are football fans, and picnics naturally go with football games. The Rose Bowl is close by. In the summertime, picnics and concerts at the Hollywood Bowl are a favorite activity.
The gift section was included because the cookbook committee thought it would be useful and fun. There is nothing so thoughtful as a gift from the kitchen.
