Description: Bienvenidos -- welcome -- to Flavors and San Antonio. Stroll down our wonderful, winding river and sample our history; then taste the delights that only so cosmopolitan a city, rich in history and diverse cultures, can produce.

The tantalizing smells of Fiesta with its pots of Mexican chili, Irish stew, French onion soup, Spanish paella, Italian lasagne, Greek meatballs, Creole gumbo, Western barbeque, Texas wild game, Indian curries, Oriental delicacies, Russian borsch, and German sausage may all be found within these pages. The only thread of similarity you will find making these dishes typically San Antonio is the inevitable dash of picante or Mexican spice.

Flavors was compiled for you with love and care. Almost three thousand treasured recipes were received from Junior League and Bright Shawl members and their friends. The Cookbook Committee and volunteer testers selected those which seemed unique and most appropriately representative of this melting pot of independence in which we live.

The section entitled "Pilon" -- that something extra when nothing more is expected -- is a collection of party ideas and menus to last all year that will tempt your taste buds and provide beginnings for your own ideas each month.
