Cow Country Gourmet Cookbook - A Flying W Story

Cow Country Gourmet Cookbook - A Flying W Story is a collection of great recipes from the West Colorado region. The book was authored by the owners of the Flying W Ranch Chuckwagon in Colorado Springs though the recipes are not from the ranch itself they are favorites collected by the owner. Braised Beef Tenderloins, Bar-B-Q Sauce, Tamale Pie Casserole, Asparagus and Eggs Amadine  and Harvey Walbanger Cake are among the cookbook's standout dishes.

Additional Details

Description: Marian Wolfe has grown up in and lived the ranch life, having spent her youth in Kansas, a part of a ranching family. Upon moving to Colorado Springs with her husband, Russ, in 1946 they continued the country life, raising cattle and quarter horses. A few years later they started the Flying W Chuck-wagon, and have owned and actively operated the Flying W since its inception in 1953. Only a few of the many interested and sometimes frustrating events are mentioned in her foreword. Marian either has been or is presently busy with politics, symphony work, church work and of course, her family -- one in college, two children married and the Grandmother of little Jason. She says 'has-been' pretty well describes her situation at this time as meeting publishing deadlines has become somewhat of a priority. But with an enthusiasm for entertaining and an appreciation for exciting foods, her plans for another book will probably be forthcoming in the not-too-distant future.
