Additional Details

Description: The Woman's Club of Washington University was organized as a purely social group by a handful of faculty wives in 1910. Now, fifty years later, and still incurably sociable, the club is nearly 400 strong.

Throughout these fifty years, the club has committeed, sectioned, and board-met together. They dined, lunched, coffeed and snacked at one another's homes. Whether faculty wives, as a group, are just perennially hungry, or whether they really are the fabulous cooks they think they are, is perhaps debatable. The fact remains that they invariably "ooh and aah" over each other's food and beg for "that divine recipe."

What better way to commemorate its Gold Anniversary in 1961 than to exchange recipes on a grand scale? Cooking by Degrees is the not too fattening, result of that exchange -- and cursed be she who has withheld her best!
