As Bakersfield embarks upon its Centennial Year, a number of celebration events will be taking place. These events will come and go and, for many of us, will leave behind fond memories. The Centennial Cookbook, however, will remain as a lasting remembrance of this Centennial year.
The Cookbook Committee sought recipes from the community to represent diverse cultures, family favorites and traditions. The recipes selected are truly tasteful treasures from our residents. Each food category is introduced by a photo of yester- year, and a biography of the photograph, provided to us by the Kern County Historical Society. "Thank you" to all of our contributors for making this cookbook possible and for sharing their culinary tal- ents in celebration of Bakersfield's Centennial year 1898-1998.
