Additional Details

Description: The Woman's Exchange is well known for the delicious dishes served in the Tea Room, as well as for the handmade children's clothes and craft items found in its Shop area. The Tea Room has developed a loyal following of those who love good food, served in friendly surroundings.

Two previous cookbooks were published by The Woman's Exchange as a result of the interest of our customers. Volume I, "the red book," was published in 1964 and quickly established itself as a favorite among cooks in the Mid-South. It was followed in 1976 by Volume II, "the blue book," which also met with wide acceptance.

Some Tea Room recipes are included in these two volumes, but because of almost daily requests for recipes from our current menu, this new cookbook project was born: Tea Room Treasures.

This small book is a collection of recipes that can truly be called keepsakes or treasures. Many have remained favorites for years in the Tea Room and in our families. They are familiar and, generally, not difficult to prepare. At our location at 88 Racine Street, our talented cooks reign serene and supreme, concocting tasty luncheons and regularly trying new recipes to add variety. Tea Room Treasures includes these old time favorites requested and also newer recipes that are currently popular.

The You Asked For //addition is designed for those who wish to cut down on fat and calories. Although the original recipes are more popular, try the You Asked For It versions; sometimes it's hard to taste the difference.

A good meal is like an expression of love: equally enjoyed and appreciated by both giver and receiver. All of these recipes have been prepared and taste-tested by many of our volunteers. The best ingredient in any recipe is YOU. the cook, and the special style you bring to food preparation. The members of The Woman's Exchange hope you will adapt this book to your taste and lifestyle and share with us a love and appreciation for cooking. Cook, eat, and enjoy— this book is for you. You Asked For It!
