Description: To come right to the point -- if you have a kitchen (pullman or otherwise) in your home and are expected to cook in it, but hate to cook -- this book is for you. It is such a clever book that no one need ever know how much you do hate to cook. The more than 180 recipes are quick, easy, and tested by other housewives who used to feel hostile to the kitchen. Not only are the recipes as simple as ABC, but they're imaginative as well. Easy meals don't have to be dull, and Peg Bracken proves it.

In addition to the recipes, there is lots of sound -- and very amusing -- advice about kitchen problems. Peg Bracken discusses leftovers ("when in doubt, throw it out"), surefire entrees like Stayabed Stew and Sweep Steak, things to do with vegetables, salads and salad dressings, last-minute meals, potluck suppers, lunches for the girls, children's parties, and dinners to impress people.

As a bonus, there is a chapter of indispensable household hints, about burns (even the best cooks get them), how to get juice from a dried-up lemon (heat in boiling water), how to feed a sick and irritable child, and many other vital bits of information.

A hint for cooks who love to cook: the book isn't supposed to be for you, but you ought to have a copy. The recipes are excellent, and Peg Bracken is very funny.
