Description: Several things make this cookbook unique.

First, all of the ingredients in our recipes -- yes, all of them -- can be found at Trader Joe's. We are big fans of one-stop shopping! Trader Joe's isn't just the best place for wine, cheese, and breads; it has everything a traditional store would stock. So even if your fridge and pantry are bare, fear not, you'll be preparing yummy gourmet meals with just one trip to Trader Joe's.

Second, this cookbook didn't come from Trader Joe's. It came from Trader Joe's fans. We've been making many of these recipes for our families for years. Others, we created especially for this cookbook by creating clever shortcuts to lengthy recipes using Trader Joe's prepped products.

Finally, a picture is worth a thousand words, and we think this is even more true for cookbooks. All the photos you see in this cookbook are, well, REAL. No mashed potatoes covered in motor oil posing as ice cream. No meat covered in glycerin to make it look moist and juicy. No chickens blowtorched on the outside but kept raw on the inside to maximize plumpness. Unlike professionally styled food that is often inedible, all the food you see here was prepared in our home kitchens, with no unusual equipment, no chemicals, no smoke and mirrors, and no photo tricks.

Proper names of Trader Joe's items are capitalized; generally assume they are shelf-stable (a jarred sauce, for example) unless specified otherwise (frozen, refrigerated). If you're a regular shopper, you already know that some Trader Joe's items are seasonal or discontinued as new items are introduced. For that reason, we offer substitution ideas in case an item is not in stock. We encourage you to experiment and come up with substitutions of your own!

We hope you'll enjoy the recipes, savor the food, impress your friends and family, and then scratch your head figuring out all the great things to do with your extra time!
