Additional Details

Description: The Apple Shed is a restaurant, bakery, and gift emporium, centrally located in Tehachapi's downtown business district. It is also a visitors' information center and provides directions to orchards and other retail businesses in the area.

In a country setting, the Shed presents fine gifts, art, handcrafts, books, clothing, furniture, specialty food, and locally-grown produce.

Artists and musicians schedule frequent performances to promote art and culture in the community.

The Shed was built by J.C. Jacobsen, Jr. in the early 1940s just a few Jeet from the railroad tracks.

The building was originally used for packing and shipping local produce and seed. Today visitors can enjoy the nostalgia of an era when trains were a major source of transportation. From the deck or through large picture windows, visitors can watch 45 to 50 freight trains that chug down the tracks daily, with carloads of cargo.
